How We Verify Suppliers

Every supplier in our directory goes through a multi-step verification process before appearing in search results. Here is exactly how we do it — and how we keep the directory accurate over time.

Source qualification

We source supplier data exclusively from industrial B2B directories, trade association member lists, and verified government procurement databases. Consumer review platforms, general business registries, and unverified crowdsourced data are excluded.

  • Industrial supplier directories (ThomasNet, IQS Directory)
  • Trade association membership lists
  • ITAR and government procurement databases
  • Certification body registries (AS9100, ISO 9001, Nadcap)

Business name classification

Each supplier is first classified by business name, description, and SIC/NAICS code. We use keyword-based rules to flag businesses clearly outside the niche — for example, auto body shops, tire centers, or mobile mechanics in the CNC machining directory.

Suppliers that pass this step are confirmed as likely relevant. Borderline cases proceed to website verification.

Website content verification

For borderline cases, we crawl the supplier's website and verify that the content confirms the relevant activity. We check for service descriptions, machine types, industry terminology, certification mentions, and capability statements.

What we look for:

  • CNC machining, milling, turning, grinding references
  • Machine types (5-axis, Swiss, EDM, VMC, HMC)
  • Materials worked with (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, PEEK)
  • Industry certifications (AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR)
  • Precision manufacturing terminology

Ongoing quality maintenance

Verification is not a one-time event. We run automated quality checks regularly and review flagged listings weekly.

  • Weekly: New listings reviewed before activation
  • Monthly: Re-crawl of supplier websites for content changes
  • Ongoing: User-reported issues reviewed within 48 hours
  • Quarterly: Full dataset audit against source directories

What “verified” means on this site

When a supplier shows as verified in our directory, it means:

  • The business was sourced from an industrial B2B directory or certified database
  • The business name, description, or website content confirms relevant manufacturing activity
  • The listing has passed our automated classification and has not been flagged as out-of-scope

Note: “Verified” refers to directory relevance, not an endorsement of work quality, certification status, or financial standing. Always conduct your own supplier qualification for critical projects.

What we do not verify

In the interest of transparency, here is what our verification process does not cover:

  • Work quality, on-time delivery, or customer satisfaction
  • Financial health or credit standing
  • Current certification validity (certifications listed are sourced from public databases and may not reflect current status)
  • Capacity availability or lead times
  • Specific machine capability or tolerance capability

For critical aerospace, defense, or medical sourcing decisions, we strongly recommend requesting a capability statement, reviewing certifications directly with the issuing body, and conducting a site visit or audit.
